कुलपति की कलाम | From the desk of the Vice-Chancellor

हिन्दी विश्वविद्यालय बंगाल का एकमात्र ऐसा विश्वविद्यालय है,जिसका नामकरण भाषा के आधार पर हुआ है। अहिन्दी प्रदेश में इस विशिष्ट प्रयास के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की माननीय मुख्यमंत्री को साधुवाद।अतः  इस विश्वविद्यालय का उद्देश्य हिन्दी भाषा तथा अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं के माध्यम से सामाजिक,सांकृतिक लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करते हुए विश्व दृष्टि के निर्माण की ओर अग्रसर होना है। ज्ञान और शिक्षा के मध्य भाषा,सेतु का कार्य करती है। परंतु इस सेतु के निर्माण में समाज के विभिन्न समुदायों की भूमिका महत्त्वपूर्ण होगी।

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि देश के निर्माण में एक प्रमुख भूमिका उच्च शिक्षण संस्थानों की रही है। अतः मैं चाहूँगा कि विश्वविद्यालय के शिक्षक,विद्यार्थी,कर्मचारी एवं प्रशासक हिन्दी विश्वविद्यालय की राष्ट्रीय पहचान निर्मित करने में अपना सहयोग करें तथा अन्य संस्थानों को भी शामिल करें।

वर्तमान समय में विश्वविद्यालय के लिए गुणवत्ता और संख्या में संतुलन बनाए रखना एक बड़ी चुनौती है। इस चुनौती को स्वीकार करना हमारा कर्तव्य है।आज कोई भी भाषा अंतर अनुशासनिक अध्ययन से जुड़ेबिना पर विकसित हो सकती है। इसलिए हिन्दी के साथ अन्य मानविकीअध्ययन , विज्ञान एवं तकनीक के अध्ययन की शाखाएँ खोलने की योजना है।

ज्ञान के आदान प्रदान में अनुवाद की भूमिका की अनदेखी नहीं की जा सकती। अतः अनुवाद में स्नातकोत्तर की शुरुआत हो चुकी है। फिर भी हिन्दी के साथ बांग्लातथा अन्य भारतीय  भाषाओं के अनुवाद के पाठ्यक्रम का आरंभ करने की योजना है। विश्वविद्यालय का महत्त्व शोध कार्य से जुड़ा होता है। अतः शीघ्र ही पी-एच॰ डी॰ कोर्स आरंभ करने की योजना है।

विश्वविद्यालय विद्यार्थियों को उपाधि प्रदान करने हैं, उन्हें आत्मनिर्भर होने के लिए प्रेरित करते हैं परंतु आज देश और समाज के निर्माण के लिए बेहतर मनुष्य और बेहतर नागरिकों की ज़रूरत है। मुझे विश्वास है कि  माननीय कुलाधिपति एवं प॰ बं॰ उच्च शिक्षा विभाग के सहयोग से हिन्दी विश्वविद्यालय देश की इस आवश्यकता की पूर्ति में अपनी महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका का निर्वाह करने में सफल होगा।

From the Desk of Vice-Chancellor

Hindi University is the only university in Bengal which is named on the basis of language. Gratitude is due to the Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal Government for this special effort in a non-Hindi speaking state. The objective of this university is to move towards achieving a specific social and cultural vision through Hindi language and other Indian languages. Language acts as a bridge between knowledge and education. But the role of different communities of the society is important in the construction of this bridge.

There is no doubt that higher educational institutions have played a major role in the building of the country. Therefore, I would like that the teachers, students, employees and administrators of the university should cooperate in creating the national identity of Hindi University and also involve other institutions in this process.

At present, it is a big challenge for the university to maintain the balance between quality and quantity. It is our duty to accept this challenge. Today no language can develop without any involvement in inter-disciplinary studies. Therefore, there is a plan to open other branches of study in Humanities, and also in Science, Technology etc.

The role of translation in the exchange of knowledge cannot be ignored. Post-graduation in translation has been started with focus on Hindi. There is a plan to broaden the focus to include other Indian languages and orient the direction of the course from theory to actual translation-work so that the university may play a meaningful role in national integration.

The importance of research work in universities can hardly be exaggerated. Therefore, there is a plan to start the Ph.D. Programme soon.

Universities provide degrees to students and inspire them to be self-reliant, but today better humans and better citizens are needed to build the country and society.

I am confident that with the cooperation of the Honourable Chancellor and of the W.B. Higher Education Department, Hindi University will be successful in fulfilling this need of the country.
